Environment

The climate in Mali . Mali is a country located in West Africa. Mali has a lot of environmental issues in terms of deforestation, desertification, soil erosion, and drought. Deforestation is especially a major problem in Mali. Mali consumes about 6 million tons of wood per year for timber and fuel, which is evidence that Mali chops down too many trees and therefore causes deforestation. Deforestation can also result in desertification.

The effects of Deforestation is that there won’t be as much trees. Mali could turn into a desert country and this could seriously affect the people of Mali. Also, the animal’s habitat and they could possibly go extinct. 70% of animals live in forests and it would be a disaster with those animals. Also this can cause climate change in Mali.

Soil Erosion is when water or wind removes soil and rock from one location on the Earth's crust, then transports it to another location where it is deposited. The moved soil may be transported just a few millimetres, or for thousands of kilometres. This causes many problems for the farmers in Mali. With poor or no nutrients in the soil, farmers would have trouble growing crops.
