Impact Analysis
As a team we discussed that in order to solve deforestation there needs to be a reduction in the amount of trees being cut down for fuel. It’s better that Mali use a different source of fuel, preferably solar panels or coal. Also, it is wise to limit human activity in the forest. In addition, by limiting human activity, it will not ruin the animals’ natural habitats. Furthermore, there will not be many consequences to the animals and the forest with reduced human activity.
Consequently, restoring nutrients to the soil will be helpful too. We can restore the nutrients by planting Gliricidia Trees, which will provide new trees with rich soil necessary for growth This solution will greatly impact and help the environment. This will also impact the economy because farmers will be able to increase their food production and more people will also have access to that food. The more food available means that the prices for food will go down.
Fighting deforestation and improving the nutrients in the soil will also impact the people of Mali. People will not have to spend a lot of money for food because of the increase in the production of food. This will help many people get out of poverty and allow them to save money for other things. In addition, we will also be fighting the rates of malnutrition among the poor. The addition of solar panels will help not only the people but the environment as well because the air will not be as polluted since the CO2 that is released during the burning of wood will decrease.
