Project Implementation

Year One: The plan is to go to the city of Kumasi and to talk to the locals about the problem. We plan to inform them on the solution we have put together. Also we will explain to them on how we are going to use are solution to help them cut back on the use of trees they using in building. We are going to send them some of the materials for buildings and some workers to demonstrate on how to use they use and work with the materials. Then we are going to let them do small projects to show how far the people of Kumasi have gotten in working and building with the materials and to see if they need more help or training with the material. We are then going show the people of Kumasi how the material can be used for a wood substitute and get some of the locals to help promoted this new wood substitute. Then we are going go to different cities such as Asamankese, and Tarkwa and promote the wood substitute for the first year we are there.

Year Two: In the second year we are going to send out people to find land for factories to make the new building materials. The people will make facilities to train people in Ghana about teaching them how to use new materials to make buildings. The way we are going to do this is by finding unused land and build training facilities. The people sent out to train people of Ghana will show them how to make bricks and concrete and how to mine stone. The people we send out are going to be trained professionals that will also help teach the people of Ghana how to use materials such as bricks, concrete, and stone to build structures.

Year Three: In our third year we will be installing solar panels throughout Kumasi, Asamankese and Tarkwa. They will be close to the forest in order to generate electricity to power the machines we will use to make the concrete. The installation of solar panels will not only give the workers energy for the factories but will also be in the homes and factory buildings, and will be a new way of getting electricity in a new earth friendly way without burning raw materials. There will be factories to make the solar panels throughout the cities in Ghana and they will buy the items needed from other countries. The third year will also be the start of some more large scale construction to being to improve and remodeled that are old and some new buildings. The houses and factories will have a significantly stronger structure than the one that are being made of timber. Also some other buildings such as hospital and inns are going to have more structural support with the new wood substitute.

Year Four: In the fourth year of our project, we have people train the people of Ghana how to take care of the new technology and factories by themselves. They will also be able keep and maintain the technology and factories. Also keep them with running effectively and know what to do when something malfunctions or breaks. We plan to do this by having the trained professionals we sent earlier to show the people of Ghana how to fix problems with solar panels and how to maintain them, and how to fix technical issues in the factories. Once the people of Ghana have been taught how to run their own factories and take care of their own technology issues. This will teach the people in the region how to take initiative on running their factories and solar panels and will lead them to have the ability to teach the other parts of the country how to do the same things they have done.

Year Five: In our fifth year of our project, we will be completely out of Ghana by the end of the year and in the last year, the people of Ghana will be the ones doing the work. In this last year our original starting area will have all the education and resources it needs to be self running and be able to maintain all the new technology and buildings they were given. With the knowledge and resources they have they will begin to teach the neighboring towns and cities. This will have a domino effect and over a length of time, all of Ghana will have the resource that we gave the original starting towns and cities because by the time our organization leaves the country, the people of Ghana will know about and request the materials and begin to change like the other cities. In addition to having the resources we gave the original cities the people of Ghana will get the materials from other Western countries to make solar panels and will have factories constructed someone in Ghana that makes the solar panels and distributes them throughout the country.
